A healthy pelvic floor is essential to our wellbeing, with not just physical implications but also emotional and social. Accessing and strengthening the pelvic floor can seem challenging at any stage of life, yet once understood how to work with it, can be transformative. This workshop will offer a straightforward explanation of the pelvic floor muscles (PFMs) and teaching on how to engage them correctly. Demystifying and empowering you to befriend and work with your Pelvic Floor. We will look into the common problems that dysfunctional PFM’s create, work through some breathing and physical practices that you can incorporate into your yoga practice to balance your PFMs. This workshop is open to all, and will be accessible to all levels of yoga experience.
Kirsty received her British Wheel of Yoga certification in 2004 and is finalising the administration for gaining her Level 4 teacher registration with Yoga New Zealand, the most senior level of teacher certification available. She has been on the Grassroots residential teaching team since 2013. Having discovered yoga in her early 20s, along with a love of philosophy, she’s constantly delving into the amazing mechanics of the body and finding that deeper philosophical connection to make sense of our experiences, create balance and stand more contentedly in our selves. She’s a mother to a delightful four year old and amongst many other teachings this has led her to gain a deeper understanding of the PFMs and discovering why they are so important for our wellbeing.
