New to our studio

FAQs and what you need to know – how to book, when to arrive, equipment, parking, special conditions & injuries, cancellations, pregnancy, health and safety. Check out our timetable to find a class.


To prevent congregation and congestion between classes we will open the studio 15 minutes before your class begins. No entry to class once it has started, your teacher will sign you in. Please use the hand sanitiser in reception before attending class.

Book your class

We will now only accept online bookings for classes, and full contact details of email and phone number must be included for contact tracing requirements. Book online via our booking software Serenity. You can find a link from our timetable page or download the Serenity app if you use your phone for bookings. In response to COVID-19 all classes will require pre booking and pre payment online, as we don’t have EFTPOS. 

Cancel your class

Online bookings can be cancelled up to 1 hour before class start time (see how to use Serenity for easy instructions to self manage cancellations). After that time email Please include your first and last name and the name and time of the class you are cancelling. If you fail to show up for class you may be charged, if your space has prevented someone else from attending, especially when we are operating at Level 2.

Physical Distancing

At Level 1 capacity is 26 max per general class, 14 for prenatal yoga, 12 for Seniors yoga and 16 for Restorative Yoga.

At Alert Level-2 will be working with 2 metre space between each student, this means a maximum of 12 students and 1 teacher. We will no longer be offering physical assists, we will instruct with verbal instructions and visual demonstration only. There will be no partner practices, BYO mats and props.

Teacher student relationship

We consider this to be a professional relationship. Please be respectful and courteous to all staff members.

Cell phones

We ask that you put cell phones on silent (not vibrate) and keep them away from your yoga mat, stored in your bag or the cubbies.


You can park in the Tannery carpark for a maximum of 3 hours.

Mats and equipment

We do offer mats and props for use, if at any time we move to Alert Level 2 we will remove the use of shared props. We highly recommend using your own props, including mats, blankets and if you have them blocks.

Special Conditions & Injuries

Please do not come if you are unwell. Anyone with serious medical conditions or injuries should consult their GP prior to beginning or resuming a yoga practice, and especially anyone that is immune compromised must get clearance from their health professional before attending a group class.  Advise teacher of any current conditions or injuries prior to the start of class. 1-1 private sessions are available as an alternative to joining a group class.

I’m pregnant what class should I come to?

We are currently running prenatal yoga in alignment with school terms with a short break during school holidays.

Class Cancellations

There are times where we may cancel classes due to inclement weather or staff emergencies. They will appear on the online booking system. A reduced schedule of classes or full closure may happen during training weekends and public holidays. Please ensure your account has full and current contact details. 

Can I bring my children?

Classes at GYH are for adults, 17+.

Bespoke and private classes also available for groups

We can create a special class to suit your needs. Email for more information. Whether it’s a team building event, a unique outing for a special group, or a private 1-1 session Grassroots Yoga would love to hear from you. We can also create a private Zoom class group for you.

Event Cancellation Policy

If you need to cancel your attendance at a workshop or event, you will be given a full refund (less an administrative fee) if notice is given 72 hours before the scheduled programme commences.  If you cancel after the event has begun or on the day you will not receive a refund. Each event is subject to minimum numbers being met. A full refund will be offered in this instance.

Lost Property

Any belongings left at the studio are stored for a maximum of 4 weeks in the general reception area. If it is something precious like jewellery we will put this in a safe place. Grassroots is not responsible for loss of items.
