time for a destress?

A beach walk at sunset is a great way to wind down, but sunset only happens once per day, and it’s rarely at the same time.

You know that feeling you get when you walk quietly along the beach at the right time of day when it’s quiet, and you just get an amazing feeling of peace. Your head gets cleared, and your shoulders and neck release a bit of tension. We get that feeling, and we can replicate it.

Whether you are an active relaxer, or someone who loves to have a quiet snooze, a yoga class can really help you not only reduce the stress of a day, but manage your stress long term.

Without going into the smaller details, yoga is not only a series of movements strung together to make you more bendy.

A good yoga class will:

* Improve your breath, and make you more aware of it

* Release the tightness that stress creates in your muscles, (you know the tight neck and shoulders)

* Improve strength, balance and flexibility

* Improve your body awareness

(During yoga, movement and breathwork lower cortisol (the stress hormone) while increasing endorphins and GABA, promoting relaxation, reducing anxiety, and enhancing overall well-being.)

Now, don’t get us wrong. There are classes that flow with the energy and speed of a waterfall, and for some, they are a better stress management tool than a Restorative styled class. But if you haven’t done any yoga before, they aren’t the best place to start.

If you are new to yoga, we suggest:

  • Yoga Foundations for a beginner level full experience class.
  • Yoga Restore for a slow completely relaxing experience
  • Gentle Yoga if you have any restrictions, injuries or just feel it is more  suited to you.

For some, coming to their first yoga class can be a little nerve racking, if this is you, why not invite a friend to join you?
